Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, 1 – 8 June 2025
Theme: “Do you believe this?” (John 11:26).
The resources for worship and reflection that have been prepared for this week mark the 1700 Anniversary of the of the Council of Nicaea, the first Ecumenical Council.
Resources for 2025 reflect on and celebrate the common faith of Christians, as expressed in the Nicene Creed formulated during the Council of Nicaea in 325 AD; a faith that remains alive and fruitful in our days, 1700 years later.
Resources
The Reflections and Prayers for the eight days comprise ‘A Journey through the Nicene Creed’.
Resources are now available on the NCCA website page Week of prayer for Christian Unity

Background
With more than 100 years of history, this annual observance involves Christian communities throughout the world. In the Northern Hemisphere it is marked in January and here in Australia, we mark this week between Ascension and Pentecost
For the year 2025, the prayers and reflections for the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity were prepared by the brothers and sisters of the monastic community of Bose in northern Italy.
The text is jointly published by the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity and the World Council of Churches (WCC), through the WCC’s Commission on Faith and Order. The material is sent to WCC member churches and Roman Catholic episcopal conferences, and they are invited to translate the text and contextualize or adapt it for their own use.
