Cruelty by Design: The health crisis in offshore detention
The health report released this month by the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC) has documented the poor physical and mental health conditions of those who remain in offshore detention.
The ASRC is currently in contact with 64 people on Nauru and states that, 65 percent had reported physical health conditions and 22 percent had severe mental health conditions. The report has also documented the health problems experienced by 47 refugees formerly detained in a similar facility on Papua New Guinea’s Manus Island, who remain stranded in PNG.

The report outlines current health data, including the impacts on children, and documents relevant case studies amongst other data.
