How We Work

The NCCA gathers together Churches and Christian communities which confess the Lord Jesus Christ as God and Saviour according to the Scriptures. We commit to deepen our relationship with each other and to work together towards the fulfilment of common witness, proclamation and service, to the glory of the one God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

nline Liturgy

In 1949, Rev Frank Byatt placed a Bowl of Remembrance on his Christmas table and asked his loved ones to contribute a gift that would go to support people in crisis around the world because of conflict or disaster.

That simple act has grown into an important ecumenical activity during the Advent season. Churches include the Christmas Bowl as part of Advent services, and families place a bowl on their Christmas table. The funds raised support humanitarian programs here in Australia and overseas.

A ‘blessing of the bowls’ liturgy will be offered online via Zoom this year, followed by an update from Act for Peace field staff about programs that receive funding through the Christmas Bowl. There will also be an update about the Gaza emergency appeal, and how Act for Peace is working with partners in the region.

Organised by Act for Peace in collaboration with the Victorian Council of Churches and National Council of Churches.

All welcome!
