Online Citizen Assembly
In the leadup to the May Federal election Australians are invited to respond to the Coalition’s plan to build seven nuclear power stations by 2050.
What’s our immediate response? Are we for it? Against it? Prefer to delay it? Perhaps we’re unsure or haven’t thought much about it.
Wherever we presently stand on the issue, it’s time to consider the issue, think about the pros and cons, have a say and listen to others. As citizens, we have a right and a responsibility to engage.
To facilitate the democratic process, Conversation at the Crossroads is convening an ONLINE CITIZEN ASSEMBLY, the first of its kind in Australia:
- Open to all Australians who wish to participate
- Using the most advanced technology available for this purpose – developed by the Deliberative Democracy Lab at Stanford University (located in the heart of Silicon Valley) – the small registration fee will help cover the cost of accessing the technology
- Combining discussion in small groups and a few days later a plenary session that will bring all participants together
- In the spirit of equality, giving all participants exactly the same opportunity and time to speak and express a view or preference.
Small groups will meet on these 3 dates:
- Wednesday 23 April 7.30 pm,
- Thursday 24 April 7.30 pm and
- Saturday 26 April 10.00 am.
Choose the date that suits you best.
All who register are also required to attend the plenary session the following Tuesday 29 April, 7.30 pm. All who register must attend both sessions.
