How We Work

The NCCA gathers together Churches and Christian communities which confess the Lord Jesus Christ as God and Saviour according to the Scriptures. We commit to deepen our relationship with each other and to work together towards the fulfilment of common witness, proclamation and service, to the glory of the one God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Jenny Johnston

Jenny Johnston passed away at the Mater Hospital, Newcastle on Saturday 24 September after a long battle with cancer. The funeral service for Jenny was celebrated at St. Anne’s Anglican Church, Strathfield Thursday, 29th September 2016.

Creation Day messages

Deaconess Margaret Rodgers AM

The NCCA recognises with appreciation the life, distinguished ministry and significant contribution to ecumenism in Australia and internationally of Deaconess Margaret Rodgers AM who died on Saturday 31 May 2014.

Bishop Michael Ernest Putney AM

The National Council of Churches in Australia recognises the outstanding ecumenical contribution made by Bishop Michael Ernest Putney. Bishop Putney was the sixth President of the NCCA serving 2009 -2013. He was diagnosed with cancer in December 2012 and died on 28 March 2014.

Rev Ronald Michael O’Grady

The National Council of Churches in Australia along with the Christian Conference of Asia (CCA) notes with regret the death of Rev. Ron O’Grady on 25 February 2014, at the age of 83 after a battle with cancer.

Dr Reg Walker

Reg was a devoted ecumenist.  For many years he gave of his time to the National Council of Churches in Australia as the chairperson of the Ronald Wilson Ecumenical Leadership Fund (RWELF).

Major Brian Holley

On Saturday, 22 May 2010, Brian Holley was promoted to glory.

Rev Peter John Holden

The NCCA thanks God for the life of the Reverend Peter John Holden.  Peter and his family served the Methodist and the Uniting Church in Australia, as well as fulfilling significant service in many parts of the Church overseas.

Professor Louis Charles Birch

Louis Charles Birch (8 February 1918 – 19 December 2009) died in Sydney, NSW, Australia on December 19 after a short illness.
