How We Work

The NCCA gathers together Churches and Christian communities which confess the Lord Jesus Christ as God and Saviour according to the Scriptures. We commit to deepen our relationship with each other and to work together towards the fulfilment of common witness, proclamation and service, to the glory of the one God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Rev Dr Rod Benson

Appointment of a new General Secretary, Rev Dr Rod Benson.

The NSW Ecumenical Council (NSWEC) has announced their new General Secretary, Rev Dr Rod Benson, pictured right. Rev Benson commenced his role with NSWEC on Monday 3 February.

Rev Benson was a Baptist minister for more than two decades, serving in city and country churches in Queensland and NSW, including 12 years at Morling College and seven years at Moore Theological College. He brings to the council, his extensive experience in ecumenical affairs, having been a Baptist Observer to the NSWEC and NCCA for many years, Public Affairs Director of the NSW Council of Churches for ten years (part-time). He has also been involved in ARRCC (Australian Religious Response to Climate Change), EAPPI Australia (Ecumenical Accompaniment Program in Palestine and Israel), and other inter-church and interfaith organisations.

Rev Benson succeeds David Rose who served as General Secretary from November 2023 to December 2024, and who will continue to support the Ecumenical Council as newsletter editor.

The NCCA welcomes Rev Benson and looks forward to working alongside him.
