5-8 February 2024

Highlights and photo gallery of the Conference

Wednesday 7 February

At the midway point of the "Raising Of Tribal Voice for Justice" conference at The University of Divinity (UD), Box Hill in Victoria, the energy and momentum continued to build.

The historic gathering unites Indigenous theologians and church leaders from Australia, Aotearoa, and the Pacific.

Said University of Divinity (UD) social media: “Together, we're immersing ourselves in profound conversations that unveil the core of Indigenous theology and offer fresh perspectives on Australia’s colonial history.

“Over the past two days, our esteemed speakers – Professor Dr Anne Pattel-Gray, Dr. Josephine Bourne, Professor Stan Grant, Rev Dr. Katalina Tahaafe-Williams, and Rev Aunty Janet Turpie-Johnstone - have delivered inspiring keynotes, sharing invaluable Indigenous wisdom.

“Day 3 is set to unfold with even more captivating discussions on truth, reparations, and justice, delving deeper into the rich tapestry of Indigenous perspective and experience.”

Thursday 8 February

The final day of the Conference featured national church leaders responding to the presentations and discussions. They were pressed for commitments to action and change both within church denominations and together ecumenically.

UD gave a heartfelt thank you to our Conference’s incredible sponsors, the pillars of support that make this event possible:

  • Red Ochre Sponsor: Wandiligong Indigenous Ministry Fund (WIMF)
  • Yellow Ochre Sponsor: The Family of Dr. Bruce Malcolm Schramm
  • White Ochre Sponsors: The Salvation Army, Uniting Church in Australia, National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Anglican Council (NATSIAC), National Council of Churches in Australia, and Indigenous Ministries Australia.
