New research on responses to domestic and family violence in Australian churches
National Church Life Survey (NCLS) has published their research in this area and share with us.
Please see the information below from Dr Miriam Pepper, who has asked us share this with our members and networks.
Happy Easter
I am aware that the NCCA held a roundtable several years ago about domestic and family violence.
I’m a researcher with NCLS Research and am emailing to let you know about research that we’ve just had published about responses to domestic and family violence in the Australian churches. We have done this research with support from an Australian Research Theology Foundation Inc. grant, using data from the 2016 National Church Life Survey, to provide a robust empirical foundation to support those who are working to address issues of domestic and family violence in connection with the churches.
We have an open access article in the journal Religions, entitled “Domestic and Family Violence: Responses and Approaches across the Australian Churches”. It is freely available. [use link to access]
There are further results, broken down by denomination, gender and age, here: http://www.ncls.org.au/articles/clergy-response-to-domestic-and-family-violence/
This may be of interest to churches and contacts in your network. We would appreciate if it is possible to please pass this information on to them as suitable.
All good wishes for your ongoing work. Peace,
Miriam
