ICAN has good news and we want to share it with you
The Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons just reached 80 signatories, with 33 states parties! The newest signatory is Nauru, one of our closest neighbours in the Pacific. The treaty will enter into force after it acquires 50 states parties.
In Nagasaki Japan, on Sunday 24 November Pope Francis spoke out against nuclear deterrence. He said "we must never grow weary of working to support the principal international legal instruments of nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation, including the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons."

Come on board for one-of-a-kind floating workshop and ship tour in the following cities (registration is essential):
- Fremantle: 9th January
- Port Adelaide: 13th January
- Melbourne: 15th January
- Hobart: 17th January

Australian nuclear test survivors, members of ICAN and campaigners from Japan will travel on board as guest educators, raising awareness of the humanitarian impacts of nuclear weapons and the UN Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons.
In 2020 the world will commemorate the 75th anniversaries of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. As nuclear dangers persist, the ban treaty lights the pathway forward.
