The Chinese Methodist Church in Australia
The NCCA joins with the church as they celebrate the 30th Anniversary of their establishment in Australia.
We offer a prayer "that in their growing they will continue to be responsive to God’s Spirit, blessed in their growing by our gracious God and used by Christ for the Glory of God." Rev John Gilmore President NCCA.
NCCA General Secretary, Liz Stone and NCCA President, Rev John Gilmore, were honoured to be in attendance at the CMCA 30th Anniversary celebratory dinner as part of the 23rd session of the CMCA Annual Conference in Melbourne, on Saturday 30 November 2024.
The CMCA commenced worship services in Australia in 1986, in response to recently arrived Mandarin speaking migrants settling in Australia. Within a few years, services were being held in all Australian states. In 1994 the CMCA was formed. Since then, more churches and outreach activities have been established.
"... we must grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, 16 from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by every ligament with which it is equipped, as each part is working properly, promotes the body’s growth in building itself up in love." Ephesians 4:15b-16 |
In May 2024, Rev John Gilmore, NCCA President, wrote to Bishop Nee and the Chinese Methodist Church in Australia, sending greetings and congratulating the church on its 30th Anniversary, which coincides with the NCCA 30th Anniversary. Rev Gilmore says. "with 26 churches and preaching points and other ministry activities we can easily see how God has blessed the life of the CMCA. We particularly appreciate your participation in the NCCA and your commitment to our Australian ecumenical life together...."
Rev Gilmore continues, "(Paul's image in Ephesians) ...has us all growing. He describes the ways that a body is connected and that we are all reliant on each other to do our part, so that the body does grow and is built up in love. Every area of activity and everyone is involved in this growth....This growth is made possible through the continuing ministry of the Holy Spirit and the abiding presence of Jesus in our lives.... A body that is healthy has life and takes action. Without action a body loses the ability to function."
The NCCA wishes to acknowledge their gratitude for the CMCA's involvement with the NCCA. For the gracious service of Thomas Ling as a Director of the NCCA Ltd Board, and the enthusiasm and dedication with which the church engaged with the NCCA Safe Church Program to ensure that the vulnerable in their community are protected from harm.
