L.I.T.A.N.I.E.S.
Music inspired by the Passion of Christ.
This recently released album was conceived during lockdown and is a collaboration between Belgian, Nicholas Lens and Australian, Nick Cave. It is comprised of 12 litanies each a blend of classical and rock.
Four singers perform with an ensemble consisting of a flute and an alto flute, a clarinet and a bass clarinet, an alto and a tenor saxophone, a bassoon, a French horn, a trumpet, two percussions, harp, piano and strings.
"bewitching and meditative music." says Nathalie Lacube, in her La Croix International article, The Passion of Christ as you've never heard it before.
"The 12 litanies ... are impressive in their minimalism and evocative power....
Each of the 12 invocations begins with a gong, marking the hours of the day or the moments of a lifetime. Times of silence are interspersed to accompany the meditation." Nathalie Lacube.
