Universal Periodic Review Third Cycle
AUSTRALIA - Stakeholder's information
All the reports for the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) of Australia are now online at the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) website.
The "National Report" is the one written by the Australian Government. The "Compilation of UN information" comes from information provided by UN Special Rapporteurs and Treaty Bodies such as a Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women, and others.
The stakeholder report of the National Council of Churches in Australia (NCCA) and the World Council of Churches (WCC) is "Joint submission 3". If you click on the tiny "E" beside JS3 - Joint Submission 3 you can access all the report.
These reports formed the basis for the review on 20 January, though of course all Governments have access to the full reports submitted by civil society as well, plus the summary advocacy document which we prepared and shared particularly with Governments who had made relevant recommendations at the last review of Australia. Now we just have to wait to see which Governments are prepared to raise which issues to our Government.
The review took place from 9.00-12.30 Central European time. Watch the recording of the Australia Review - 37th Session of Universal Periodic Review here
