Enthronement of Archbishop Makarios

We rejoice with our brothers and sisters of the Greek Orthodox Church at the Enthronement of Archbishop Makarios at the Holy Cathedral of the Annunciation of the Theotokos in Sydney on Saturday 29 June 2019.

Crowds gathered for the enthronement of Archbishop Makarios which included political leaders and Church dignitaries from both Australia and Greece. Among the many special guests in attendance at the ceremony were: Gladys Berejiklian, NSW Premier; Anthony Albanese, Federal Labor Party Leader; David Coleman, Immigration Minister; and Terens Quick, Greek Deputy Foreign Minister.

NCCA President, Bishop Philip Huggins was in attendance to congratulate the newly Enthroned Archbishop.

Our prayers are with Archbishop Makarios and the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia.
