Preparing for WCC 11th Assembly 2022
Publications and resources
In December, the WCC publishes a series of Bible studies to help the fellowship prepare for the assembly. These Bible studies, in four languages, celebrate major Christian festivals while keeping users in touch with the compelling theme of the WCC 11th Assembly.
The publication “Christ’s Love Moves the World to Reconciliation and Unity: A reflection on the theme of the 11th Assembly of the World Council of Churches, Karlsruhe 2022,” is available in English, French, German and Spanish and will soon also be available in Russian, Indonesian, Kiswahili, and Portuguese.
Other official assembly publications in progress are:
- four resource books, one in each of the WCC's working languages, to contain the important WCC statements and documents relevant to the assembly's concerns and business.
- a sampling of the spiritual resources to be used at the assembly, entitled “Celebrate Christ's Love!” Once it is available, it is hoped that congregations, spiritual groups, and ecumenical organizations will employ the texts and songs in their prayers and liturgies, as a means of prayerfully anticipating and accompanying the assembled oikoumene.
All resources will be available from the WCC website
Public registration
Public registration is now open!
Anyone who is interested in participating in the WCC 11th Assembly and who is not already invited to participate can now register as an assembly participant.
As the WCC continues to monitor the COVID-19 situation, registration of assembly participants will open in waves of 250 participants every two weeks until the limit is reached.
Seven Weeks for Water 2022
The World Council of Churches (WCC) Ecumenical Water Network invites you to use the season of Lent to reflect on God’s gift of water.
Since 2008, the WCC– through its “Seven Weeks for Water” campaign – has been providing weekly theological reflections and other resources on water for the seven weeks of Lent and for World Water Day on 22 March (which always falls during the Lenten period).
The first reflection of the Seven Weeks for Water 2022 of the WCC’s Ecumenical Water Network is written by Philip Vinod Peacock.* He reflects on the promise of God found in Isaiah, and challenges us to be enablers of God’s promise of water for the poor.
Seven Weeks for Water 2022, week 1: "Water justice now", by Philip Peacock
Text: 2 March 2022
Isaiah 41: 17-20
The poor and needy search for water,
but there is none;
their tongues are parched with thirst.
But I the Lord will answer them;
I, the God of Israel, will not forsake them.
*Rev. Philip Vinod Peacock is an executive secretary of the World Communion of Reformed Churches as part of the “Collective General Secretariat,” based in Hanover, Germany. He is an ordained minister of the Church of North India.
