Safe Church Administration Officer

Engage with 36 different Christian Church denominations/synods/dioceses and organisations throughout Australia. You will also have regular contact with various state, territory and federal government agencies and departments. No day will be the same.

Job details: Part-time, 2 days per week, based in Melbourne CBD on a 12 month fixed term contract.

The Safe Church Program is an initiative of the NCCA and consists of the Safe Church Training Agreement (SCTA), Safe Church Network, and the Safe as Churches? Conferences.

You’re an enthusiastic and committed person with strong administration skills. You’re confident engaging with a variety of stakeholders and enjoy connecting with diverse people. You’re looking for a creative, broad and challenging role in which you can take ownership of your work. In particular you are looking for a position that will give you the opportunity to use your skills to make a real difference to the lives of others. In this role, you will have the chance to connect with a wide range of people who are committed to helping churches be a safe place for all people, in particular children, young people and those who are vulnerable.

This is a two day per week position with the possibly to extend to three days for the right applicant who has both strong administration skills and strong social marketing and media skills.

Your main areas of responsibility will be:

  • Supporting the National Coordinator with the administration of the National Safe Church Program
  • Training calendar management
  • Researching changes in legislation and best practice
  • Membership coordination
  • Website maintenance
  • Arranging newsletters, workbooks
  • Managing phones, Drop Box, emails, hard drive
  • Assist in the development of the Safe Church Conference

Selection Criteria

  • High level administrative experience 
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, prioritise and exercise judgement, discretion, confidentiality and initiative
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Sound computer knowledge including Microsoft Office, Outlook, Mailchimp, DropBox, social media platforms, Adobe and Content Management Systems for websites
  • Proven ability to work within a team and to liaise with a broad range of stakeholders
  • Outstanding communication and inter-personal skills
  • Sympathy with the values of the Christian faith and knowledge of the workings of the Christian churches in Australia.

The successful candidate must have the right to work in Australia and is required to undertake a National Police Check and hold a Working with Children check.
