Metropolitan Archbishop announced 9 May 2019

We rejoice with our brothers and sisters of the Greek Orthodox Church as Metropolitan Makarios Griniezakis is elected by the Holy Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate as Archbishop of Australia.

Metropolitan Makarios of Christoupolis was born in Heraklion, Crete. He has a Masters of Sacred Theology from the University of Boston, a Master of Arts in History of Science from Harvard and a Master of Bioethics from Monash University.

Our prayers are with Archbishop Makarios and the Archdiocese as they await his arrival in Australia.
