Holy Apostolic Catholic Assyrian Church of the East
Episcopal Consecration of Bishop Abraham
On Sunday 26 May 2019, The Revd. Chorbishop Narsai Youkhanis was consecrated to the holy office of Bishop in the Holy Apostolic Catholic Assyrian Church.
The blessing of former Chorbishop Narsai Youkhanis was officiated by His Holiness Mar Gewargis III Sliwa, Catholicas-Patriarch of the Assyrian Church of the East who visited Australia from the Patriarchate in Erbil, Iraq. His Holiness was assisted by fellow prelates and clergy from Australia and abroad. The service took place at St Hurmizd's Cathedral, Greenfield Park NSW.
NCCA Interim General Secretary was present at the Consecration service to pass on her congratulations to Bishop Abraham. May Almighty God shower His grace, mercy and blessings on him as he continues his devoted service in the Assyrian Church of the East.
His Grace Mar Awraham (Bishop Abraham) previously served the Assyrian Church of the East, Archdiocese of Australia, New Zealand and Lebanon as Secretary to the Metropolitan and Chaplain of the Assyrian Church of the East Youth Association and Children’s Association. He is also a past member of the NCCA's Faith and Unity Commission.
Our prayers are with Bishop Abraham as he leaves Australia and prepares for his new role as a bishop of London, England and all western Europe.
