16 days of activism
Starts 25 November 2022.
The global theme for this year's 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, which will run from 25 November to 10 December 2022, is “UNITE! Activism to end violence against women and girls”.
Domestic Violence Advent Sermon Notes
Members of the Queensland Churches Together (QCT) Commission for prevention of Domestic and Family Violence (JCDVPP) have prepared resources for use in churches in the four weeks leading up to Christmas to raise awareness that not all families enjoy peaceful, joyful celebrations at this time of year and to be aware that, sadly, some of these families are amongst Church communities.
JCDVPP believe, that to preach about Domestic and Family Violence may give hope and courage to people to seek help, speak up, be alert to the needs in the community around them.
The Domestic Violence Advent Sermon Notes can also be used for home/small groups.
The notes can also be accessed through the QCT website or

Holding the Light
An ecumenical service to remember victims and survivors of family and domestic violence. Stand in solidarity with victims and survivors of domestic violence and remember those who have been killed as a result of domestic violence.
We remember:
Those killed as a result of domestic violence by naming those who are victims in the service, and by tolling the church bell
Stand in solidarity with victim/survivors by recognizing their pain, and listening to their voices
Take time to reflect and commit ourselves to addressing the drivers of violence in our own attitudes, communities and contexts
Take hope in the Christian message that all may be healed and redeemed, while acknowledging the ongoing trauma, suffering and danger experienced by so many in our communities due to the ongoing use of violence and abuse.
