You are invited to this 'What to Do' webinar for pastors, ministers, clergy, and committee members 

In the lead up to Christmas, there is often an increase in domestic and family violence. This webinar is for all who wish to be more aware of domestic violence. It will be particularly helpful for Church leaders, ministers, pastors and church committee members as a refresher on what to do when confronted with such situations

Who should attend: This webinar is for pastors, ministers, clergy, and committee members as a refresher on what to do when a parishioner raises this issue; as the lead up to Christmas often sees a spike in domestic violence.

Presenters 

  • Robyn Black is a Salvation Army Officer for 20 years, coming from a background of Social Work. Her current appointments are Area Officer Sydney, supporting Faith Expressions (churches) across four areas, and Corps Officer (Minister/Pastor) at Auburn Salvation Army, Sydney, a highly multicultural community. In December 2022 Robyn submitted a thesis to complete the requirements for a Master of Ministry. The two questions she addressed were “What do faith leaders need to know about domestic abuse?” and “How will this knowledge change their practice?” 
  • Oliver Slewa is a lawyer with over 15 years of experience, predominantly working with victim-survivors of domestic and family violence in the government and non-government sectors. He has worked with the NSW Government as a Senior Policy and Projects Officer on the Premiers Priorities on Domestic and Family Violence. Previously, Oliver led the Domestic and Family Violence Project with the NSW Ecumenical Council, He is the NSW Humanitarian Lawyer Award Recipient, 2023, and works for the National Council of Churches.
