NCCA October Assembly

question puzzlex150This Assembly will be an opportunity to reflect on how churches engage in moral discernment, especially when they make decisions about moral matters that are part of public discussion.

The day is facilitated by the NCCA Faith and Unity Commission and will be led by Rev Dr Gerard Kelly and Dr Morag Logan.

When: Thursday 31 October 2019 10:00 am – 3:00 pm
Venue: St James Hall, Level 1, 169-171 Phillip Street, Sydney


The day will be divided into three sessions:

  1. Introducing the World Council of Churches Faith and Order Commission Study Document, Moral Discernment in the Churches - Faith and Order Paper No. 215 Copyright © 2013 WCC Publications.
  2. Sampling the responses of Australian churches to this document.
  3. Connecting this to your own experience:
    a) your experience of how your church makes decisions in the public forum;
    b) your experience of how members of your church are assisted in their own moral decision making;
    c) what can our churches learn from each other about moral discernment?

Please note: Coffee/tea will be available upon arrival from 9:30 am and the morning session will open with prayer at 10:00 am. Lunch is included and the final session for the day will close with prayer at 3:00pm
