The Greek Orthodox Diocese of Australia
Four new Assistant Bishops have recently been elected at the Holy Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate on 30 August for the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia.
NCCA prays for the new Bishops as they enter into their new roles within the church.
The new appointments concern:
- Bishop-elect Prochoros of Charioupolis
- Bishop-elect Eumenios of Kerasounta
- Bishop-elect Christodoulos of Magnesia
- Bishop-elect Kyriakos of Sozopolis
The NCCA extends our heartfelt congratulations and prayers to The Very Reverend Archimandrite Prochoros Anastasiadis, pictured, who was elected with the title of Bishop of Charioupolis. Fr Proshoros currently serves in Canberra. He is Member Nominee of the Greek Orthodox Church in Australia for NCCA and represents His Eminence Archbishop Makarios at National Church Leaders’ meetings, that are facilitated by NCCA
May God grant him many years, along with all the necessary gifts and grace to fulfil his role. May he be blessed and be a blessing.
His ordination service is scheduled for Sunday, 21st November. 2021 and will be performed by His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia with other bishops who will be present and con-celebrating with him.
The Archdiocese announcement is as follows:
"The Holy and Sacred Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, which convened for the month of August in the Phanar (Constantinople), under the Presidency of His All-Holiness our Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, on Monday 30th August, elected four new Assistant Bishops for the Holy Archdiocese of Australia, at the recommendation of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia.
