World Council of Churches

Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 2025

The Reflections and Prayers for the eight days comprise ‘A Journey through the Nicene Creed’.

In Australia, we mark the week between Ascension and Pentecost: 1-8 June 2025.

Theme: “Do you believe this?” (John 11:26).

Resources for 2025 reflect on and celebrate the common faith of Christians, as expressed in the Nicene Creed formulated during the Council of Nicea in 325 AD; a faith that remains alive and fruitful in our days, 1700 years later.

Week of Prayer for Christian Unity

With more than 100 years of history, this annual observance involves Christian communities throughout the world.

For the year 2025, the prayers and reflections for the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity were prepared by the brothers and sisters of the monastic community of Bose in northern Italy.

The text is jointly published by the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity and the World Council of Churches (WCC), through the WCC's Commission on Faith and Order. The material is sent to WCC member churches and Roman Catholic episcopal conferences, and they are invited to translate the text and contextualize or adapt it for their own use.
