A Day to Act for Peace
What a week it has been. We have been devastated to watch the conflict in the Middle East escalate and are deeply concerned for the safety and well-being of innocent civilians as well as our partner and civilians in Gaza.
Our prayers are with all those impacted by the conflict in Lebanon, for the protection of our partner in Gaza the New East Council of Churches, and for all humanitarian workers providing critical care. We continue to monitor the situation and liaise with our partners in the Middle East.
We are calling for an immediate ceasefire and praying for peace in the Middle East.

As we’ve watched the conflict unfold, this week also marked our first Giving Day – A Day to Act for Peace. On Wednesday 2 October, for just 24 hours, every dollar donated was matched by incredibly generous friends we called our ‘Peace Makers’.
We had set what we thought was an ambitious target of $70,000 but the generosity of our supporters was unbelievable. By midday we had raised over $53,000 and by the end of the campaign just 24 hours later we had raised an incredible $126,845!!!!!
So many kind-hearted Aussies are clearly united in solidarity to seek peace. While wars rage and there are currently more than 120 million people across the world who have been forced out of their homes by conflict and disaster, Australians are stepping up to make a difference.
Thank you to every individual who gave generously and helped make A Day to Act for Peace one to remember. |
These gifts will be invested in life-changing support and programs that help empower people displaced by conflict and disaster around the globe, to find safety in exile and rebuild their lives.
We want to pay tribute to our matched giving ‘Peace Makers’ – the anonymous donors and our corporate sponsors, Ajak & Associates, and KGR Properties Group, who made the campaign possible.
Our hearts are filled with hope for peace and the belief that when we care for humankind together, we are acting for peace in the world. The inaugural, A Day to Act for Peace, was successful beyond our wildest imagination and we look forward to seeing what we can achieve together next year.
