The NCCA Safer Churches 9 Conference was held at the Mercure Hotel, Brisbane QLD on 17 - 18 September 2019. The focus of the Conference was on ensuring that Australian churches are informed by key leaders who are experts in child safeguarding in Australia.

Your urgent prayers are encouraged for Mary Jane Veloso
Advocacy on behalf of Ms Veloso continues, with the upcoming hearing on Thursday 26 September in the Supreme Court of the Philippines. This could potentially be the last hearing against Veloso’s alleged recruiters. As she languishes in an Indonesian prison, her testimony has yet to be included in her trial.
Submissions to the Senate extended until 30 September.
On 25 July 2019, the Senate referred an inquiry into the adequacy of Newstart and related payments and alternative mechanisms to determine the level of income support payments in Australia to the Senate Community Affairs References Committee for inquiry and report by 27 March 2020.

Nora Carmi's reflection explores humanity, equality in God’s creation
As the World Week for Peace in Palestine and Israel commenced, Nora Carmi offered a morning reflection at the Ecumenical Centre in Geneva on 16 September. Carmi is a civil society worker on justice and peace issues who is from the Orthodox community.
