Prayer for peace on the WCC anniversary 2024

On the 76th anniversary of the World Council of Churches (WCC), Bishop Dr Heinrich Bedford-Strohm, moderator of the WCC central committee, offers a Prayer for peace.

"Gracious God, on the birthday of the World Council of Churches we ask you to fill our hearts with your spirit so that we may be witnesses of your son Jesus Christ’s love which moves the world to reconciliation and unity...."

The prayer continues with reference and solidarity for those who especially need peace:

"...in the refugee camps in Sudan, in the ruins of Gaza, in the villages and cities of Ukraine, in the hills of eastern Congo, in the rainforests of Colombia, in the mountains of Myanmar."
