Speaker: Mr Jamie Isbister, Australia’s Ambassador for the Environment.

Chair: Bishop Philip Huggins, President of the National Council of Churches in Australia (NCCA) and Director of the Centre for Ecumenical Studies of the Australian Centre for Christianity and Culture (ACC&C).

The Glasgow summit in November 2021 will bring parties together to accelerate action towards the goals of the Paris Agreement and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. When Ambassador Jamie spoke at the ACC&C in early 2020, he agreed to return with an update. The pandemic has somehow amplified awareness of the risks facing us if we do not follow the science and do not cooperate globally in this climate emergency. For people of faith, the advocacy tasks are clear:

*Encourage nations, including our Australia, to be transparently ambitious with nationally determined contributions;

*Encourage nations to be generous in terms of their financial, technical and capacity-building support of those nations who need this;

*Encourage nations who are receiving support to be transparent about their circumstances.

Ambassador Jamie will be able to update us on these matters and others from his international work.

With his insights and in conversation, we can also explore the role of people of faith in building trust.
