Act for Peace

Send a Girl to School

Early February can be a very exciting time for Australian children as they go back to school. Often the shops are a little crowded as children, along with their parents, excitedly buy all the things they need for the year ahead.

While students here in Australia are busy settling in for a new year of school, Act for Peace's partners in Afghanistan and Pakistan know that many children there won’t get that chance. Girls in particular have already been fighting for equal access to education, and COVID-19 has only made this situation worse. Many parents lost their jobs and no longer have the money for basic school supplies or uniforms.

For children from disadvantaged households in Pakistan, going back to school can be really daunting. Many families can’t afford even basic hygiene items that their children need to feel comfortable in the classroom.

You can help!

For just $19, you can help a child in Pakistan by giving them their very own get ready for school kit. Each kit contains basic things like soap, toothbrushes, shampoo and more to help them get ready for school and feel confident so that they can focus on their education.

Help a girl go to school

For just $38, you can provide a girl in Afghanistan with a school bag, pens, paper, books and hygiene supplies – everything she needs to attend her first day of school.

Help provide toys for a classroom

Or, for $70 you can supply an entire classroom in Pakistan with educational toys including jigsaw puzzles, building blocks, pictorial cards and more helping to ensure they are vibrant and joyful places for children to learn.

It is the hope of Act for Peace that together we can help even more children get back to school and receive an education.

Thank you for bringing joy through the gift of education.
