Managing High Risk Individuals Webinar Series: Registration Open Now
The NCCA and CPSL have again joined forces to develop two new Webinars designed to help faith communities across Australia keep children safe and protected in their organisations.
The topic for the next webinar series is Managing High Risk Individuals, with the participation of subject matter expert Mr Carl Collins.
Mr Carl Collins is a former senior child protection investigator, team leader and departmental Children’s Court prosecutor with DHS Protective Services in Victoria. He is the founder and director of Child Protection Solutions where he provides training and consultancy in relation to all forms of child abuse and exploitation, specialising in child sex offender consultancy and the practical profiling and accountable management of child sex offenders for a wide range of organisations, denominations and professional practitioners on a national and international level.
These two webinars will follow a sequential theme:
- the first webinar is an introductory session for anyone to join, and
- the second is an advanced session targeted at those who oversee safeguarding and are involved in the process.

Who should register to attend:
This Managing High Risk Individuals – Introduction online webinar is intended for anyone involved in a faith or church community who would like to understand and learn about how to identify and manage high risk individuals in your context (i.e. parishioner, lay or ordained ministry, employed or volunteer). Participants will gain an entry-level understanding of how to identify, manage and respond to high risk individuals.
This session focuses on responding to those individuals with a substantiated complaint or who have been convicted of an offence relating to child sexual abuse.
Some topics listed here will be just referred to whilst others will be addressed in greater detail.
This Introduction webinar explores:
- The different types of child sex offenders, how they think, operate, target, groom and infiltrate.
- Organisational vs victim grooming.
- Can offenders be rehabilitated.
- Rates of recidivism.
This 90 minute webinar will help you:
- Understand the different types of offender profiles.
- Understand the importance of psychological testing.
- Understand your own church and faith context and develop an ability to manage high risk individuals as well as identify gaps and areas for improvement.
- Understand best practice around responding.

The webinar will be hosted by Daniele Donnini (CPSL Director of Safeguarding) and Laura Lindsay-Cregan (National Coordinator, NCCA Safe Church Program).
