Week of Living the Change celebrations
The forecasts from the recent IPCC Special Report are dire, yet like the Hebrew prophets of old, there are people in our midst calling for hope and action “for everything is possible with God.”
Around 300 such people joined Week of Living the Change gatherings in various centres around Australia in the week of October 7 – 14. There were musical performances, workshops, Aboriginal dance, reflective interfaith rituals, and more. At each event there were opportunities for conversations and actions that are becoming the new normal: climate justice driven by faith values. Change can be positive and much easier when struggles and achievements are shared with others. In addition, the gatherings motivated and inspired by way of celebration, with vegan feasts served at each place.
As one Muslim leader shared, in order to be good custodians of God’s masterpiece of creation, we must live our values and take concrete changes now. ARRCC plans to continue throughout 2019, encouraging people to live out the values embedded in their spiritual traditions through making concrete lifestyle changes.
